The company offers various paper chemicals for the manufacture of books, newspapers, tissues, and other types of papers, including water-repellents, sizing agents, paper surface improving agents, and paper strengthening agents for the strength of paper and corrugated cardboard. It also provides coating chemicals and adhesive materials, such as printing inks for offset printing; book (magazine)-gravures and food-package-gravures; tackifiers for adhesive agents or tapes; release agents for release paper; polymerization emulsifiers for producing synthetic rubber; ester gums that enhance chewing sensations; and resins as a raw material of paint or film coating, as well as hydrogenated petroleum resins and colorless rosin derivatives under the ARKON and PINECRYSTAL names. In addition, the company offers electronic materials, including rosin-modified phenolic, polyurethane resins, polyurethane, alkyd, polyester, modified epoxy, and hydrogenated hydrocarbon resins; rosin ester products; cleaning systems and peripheral equipment. Further, it provides photo-curing polymers, organic-inorganic hybrid resins, and hybrid polyimide films. The company was formerly known as Arakawa Forest Chemical Industries, Ltd. and changed its name to Arakawa Chemical Industries, Ltd. in April 1977.
