Who Is ValueMarkers For? (And Who It's Not For)

Not every tool is right for every investor. We would rather lose a potential customer than have someone sign up and feel disappointed. Here is who gets the most value from ValueMarkers, and who should look elsewhere.

ValueMarkers Is Built For

Value Investors

If you follow the principles of Graham, Buffett, Munger, or Greenblatt, ValueMarkers was built for you. The VM Score synthesizes the same value, quality, and safety indicators these investors use, across 100,000+ stocks. You get margin of safety calculations, intrinsic value estimates, and the ability to screen for undervalued companies systematically.

Fundamental Analysts

Whether you work at a fund, an RIA, or analyze stocks independently, you need deep financial data. ValueMarkers provides 30 years of income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements with 120 pre-computed indicators. Instead of building spreadsheets from scratch, you can focus on interpretation and judgment.

DIY Long-Term Investors

If you manage your own portfolio and hold stocks for months or years, you need tools that go beyond price charts and news headlines. ValueMarkers helps you evaluate businesses on their fundamentals, compare them against peers, and monitor portfolio quality over time.

Dividend Investors

Sustainable income requires understanding payout ratios, free cash flow coverage, and dividend growth consistency. ValueMarkers tracks these metrics across 30 years of history, helping you distinguish between genuinely reliable dividend payers and companies with unsustainable yields.

ValueMarkers Is Not For

Day Traders

ValueMarkers does not offer real-time tick data, Level 2 order books, technical chart patterns, or sub-second execution tools. If your holding period is hours or minutes, a trading platform like ThinkorSwim, Interactive Brokers, or TradingView is what you need.

Momentum & Technical Traders

Our tools are entirely fundamental. We do not provide RSI, MACD, Bollinger Bands, or other technical indicators. If your strategy is based on price patterns and momentum, ValueMarkers will not add value to your workflow.

Crypto Traders

ValueMarkers covers equities listed on traditional stock exchanges. We do not track cryptocurrencies, NFTs, or DeFi tokens. If crypto is your focus, platforms like CoinGecko or Messari are better suited.

Passive Index Investors

If you dollar-cost average into index funds and do not pick individual stocks, ValueMarkers does not offer much beyond educational content. Index investing is a perfectly valid strategy, and we would not want you paying for tools you do not need.

Why We Are Honest About This

Most software companies try to be everything to everyone. We think that is a mistake. ValueMarkers is a specialized tool for a specific type of investor. By being clear about who we serve, we can focus on doing that one thing exceptionally well.

If you are a day trader and sign up expecting real-time charting tools, you will be disappointed and we will have wasted your time. We would rather point you to the right tool than collect a subscription fee from someone who will not get value from the product.

Our best customers are investors who understand that finding undervalued, high-quality businesses requires deep data, patience, and a systematic process. If that describes you, we think you will love what we have built.

Frequently Asked Questions

I'm a complete beginner. Is ValueMarkers too advanced for me?+
Not at all. The VM Score gives you a simple 0-100 ranking to start with, and our blog and glossary explain every indicator in plain language. Many users start with the leaderboard and screener, then gradually dig deeper into DCF models and individual indicators as they learn. The free Explorer plan is a great way to start.
I manage a fund. Is ValueMarkers professional enough?+
ValueMarkers covers 100,000+ stocks across 73 exchanges with 30 years of financial history and 120 indicators. The Professional plan includes API access, bulk data exports, and portfolio analytics. Several RIAs and small fund managers use ValueMarkers for screening and initial due diligence alongside their institutional terminals.
Can I use ValueMarkers for dividend investing?+
Yes. Dividends are one of the five VM Score categories (15% weight), covering yield, payout ratio, dividend growth rate, and consecutive years of growth. You can screen specifically for dividend criteria and the scoring system rewards consistent, sustainable dividend policies over unsustainable high yields.
